The Naked Brand

ArtCenter’s resources will allow us to watch The Naked Brand film for free via Kanopy here. That way students won’t have to pay $2 to watch it on YouTube or stream it from a shady site. She generously requested that I share this good resource with the rest of the class.

First Project: Brand Book

To begin our Brand Book project, each person must choose a company from the Forbes list of the most valuable global brands. Find the link here. Of course, Forbes, an American business magazine, is not the only resource for lists of top brands. Check out this list from MillwardBrown, which is a global market research company focused on brands. Have you noticed any other significant lists?

IDEO Method Cards

We will be using IDEO Method Cards in class today as we continue to work on the Quaker Brand ID Challenge project.

IDEO Method Cards is a collection of 51 cards representing diverse ways that design teams can understand the people they are designing for. They are used to make a number of different methods accessible to all members of a design team, to explain how and when the methods are best used, and to demonstrate how they have been applied to real design projects. Inspired by playing cards, the cards are classified as four suits—Ask, Watch, Learn, Try—that define the types of activities involved in using each method. Each approach offers brand insights that are valuable in developing brand strategies for clients. DOWNLOAD A PDF VERSION HERE:
